Liverpool player ratings: Forwards

His first start since his second injury of the season and still looks a little rusty. Most effective when swapping with Sadio Mane. His work rate is noticeably down from what we are used to which is understandable after so long out of the first team. Got to play the full 90 which will be important down the line as Liverpool may need more contributions from Lallana.. Right Forward. Liverpool. ADAM LALLANA. 6

8. Klopp can’t rest Firmino. This is because his skill set is so crucial to the manager’s system. Also there is no real central alternative for the Brazilian; Dominic Solanke didn’t even make the bench tonight. Had a good chance at the beginning of the second half that was blocked before coming off for a 30 minute rest.. Center Forward. Liverpool. ROBERTO FIRMINO

8. The liveliest of the front three as he has hit a good run of form in recent games. Couldn’t quite get on the end of Joe Gomez’ cross in the first half. Later, he was very unlucky after his quick shot hit the post in Liverpool’s best chance of the half. Glad he came off with 15 minutes left but horrified to see Mohamed Salah take his place.. Left Forward. Liverpool. SADIO MANE

Substitutes

Danny Ings – 7

Got to have a 30 minute run out in the central striker position as Firmino got to rest. Forced the best save of the night by Casillas with a good header.

Next: All of Rafa Benitez' Liverpool signings ranked 45 to 1!

Mohamed Salah – 7

A bewildering decision by Klopp to throw on Salah for the last 15 minutes. He looked quality, of course, but there is no good explanation for that decision.

Ragnar Klavan – 6

On for Emre Can to offer another defensive body and a ten minute rest for Liverpool’s most important midfielder.
