5. Midfield Mastery

All of the successful Jose Mourinho sides have been founded on taking control of the midfield. The reality for this Manchester United team is that they don’t have the players to dominate Liverpool in the middle of the park.

At times this season Liverpool have looked a little light or unbalanced in the central areas. But since Jordan Henderson has fully recovered from injury the Liverpool midfield has been all business.

Emre Can is having his best season at Liverpool. He is in line for a huge pay-day from someone with his contract finishing in June. I expect those two to start and Klopp can then use whoever he thinks best for this matchup.

If he wants more threat on the counter then Oxlade-Chamberlain will start. If he wants to take control of possession the Gini Wijnaldum should be fit after illness. If he feel the pace of the game will be slower then James Milner could come in to give big game experience.

United have nothing to worry about. Nemanja Matic is a decent player but he won’t have Coutinho to shadow this time round. Paul Pogba looks lost in this system and Scott McTominay may have some promise but he is nowhere near ready to dominate this game.

Reds can go into this normally nervy game with genuine hope and belief that we will take three points and grab control of second place in the league.
