Liverpool slumped to a 2-1 defeat Manchester United  at Old Trafford today. Here are our Liverpool player ratings:

A hugely disappointing result for Liverpool against Manchester United at Old Trafford as they sunk to a 2-1 loss. United now have a five point gap over the Reds in the Premier League and we have not won in the last 8 league games against them.

There were four changes from the side that saw out a 0-0 draw against FC Porto on Tuesday. The first choice back four was restored with Andy Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk replacing Alberto Moreno, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

The big shock was that captain Jordan Henderson made way for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain while James Milner kept his place.

The first half was one of the worst of Liverpool’s season – on a par with the horror show against Spurs at Wembley in October. Two goals from Marcus Rashford who exposed Alexander-Arnold for the first while Lukaku bullied Dejan Lovren for two assists. An own goal from Eric Bailly gave Liveprool hope but they couldn’t create a clean cut chance for any of the forwards.

Here are the Liverpool player ratings v Manchester United:

6. Not at fault for the goals which were both good finishes beyond his dives. Though two shots on goal for two goals is never an encouraging stat for a keeper. Belief that Liverpool have ‘solved’ their keeper problem is a bit premature. Came way out of his box to sweeper-keep late on and made it work.. Goalkeeper. Liverpool. LORIS KARIUS
