Liverpool Player Ratings: Midfield

5. With McTominay and Matic playing right at the base of the Man Utd midfield he had plenty of room ahead of him. He could not influence the game with the ball at his feet and does not have the energy to press effectively in a game like this. The manager should have played Henderson from the start.. Center Midfield. Liverpool. JAMES MILNER

Center Midfield. Liverpool. EMRE CAN. 6. Was harried and hustled by Alexis Sanchez for much of the game as the Chilean cut inside to disrupt the Liverpool midfield. Can did not flap and kept possession well but was unable to begin anything worth noting from deep in the Liverpool midfield.

Center Midfield. Liverpool. ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN. 5. Looked a little lost and too eager to make something happen Nothing he tried worked out for him which makes all his running look a little headless. Was the first player to make way for a sub and was visibly annoyed to be taken off.
