Liverpool fans can’t wait for the transfer of 21-year-old defensive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi to be announced.

The Reds are interested in bringing the Leicester City midfielder to Anfield, and although the player is keen, the Foxes are unwilling to sell.

These latest rumours have been sparked by a journalist from Guinea who writes for Centpourcentfoot.net – and naturally they have been greeted by a fair amount of skepticism.

Alpha Balde posted on Twitter that Ndidi wants to make the move to Liverpool, but that Leicester’s asking price is above what the Merseyside club is prepared to pay.

Even so, the news has been picked up by a number of influential accounts on the social network and the rumours have spread around the Reds fanbase – who are still exciting about the project manager Jurgen Klopp is building.

With 23-year-old Naby Keita coming into the side in the summer, Klopp is bringing a youthful core to his high-energy side and Ndidi can become an important part of that. That has excited a lot of fans, so scroll down to see what they’ve been saying.

The Nigerian would bring a solid spine to the team, who have lacked a midfield destroyer over the past couple of season.

His arrival might free Jordan Henderson and Emre Can (if he stays) to make more of an impact higher up the pitch, although it would congest the area in terms of selection.

Whether or not the rumour is true is kinda irrelevant right now. The encouraging thing is that it looks like Klopp is building a side in his ideal image, with young players who can develop into better footballers.

It’s certainly a better way than the piecemeal approach seemingly adopted by Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, which has led to an incredible amount of financial outlay to field a side that can’t get the best out of their marquee players like Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez.
