Center Back: Virgil van Dijk
None of the front three or Virgil van Dijk can be rested in any game we have any plans of winning. And Liverpool really need a win on Saturday. A victory in the early game at Selhurst Park would put Liverpool on 66 points with six games to play. That would shift the Reds to second in the table before Manchester United play at 3pm.
With Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea facing off on Sunday there is a good chance Liverpool could be 10 points ahead of Chelsea in fifth by the time Monday comes around. Although all the teams around them would have a game in hand the Reds would have the points on the board and be in a very strong position going into the derby game.
We have to win so we have to play the only center back that we can trust. It was disappointing that Virgil van Dijk played both of the Netherland’s friendlies this week. However he was made captain and scored his first international goal.
Hopefully that will bring the Dutch colossus even more confidence ahead of the vital fixtures on Liverpool’s schedule.
