Left Back: Alberto Moreno

I get it. Andy Robertson is brilliant. You want to see him start every game for Liverpool. So do I. But I would go for Moreno in this fixture.

The Scottish left back was as important as any other player when we beat City at Anfield. His pressing and running was crucial to disrupting the flow of Pep Guardiola’s side. We absolutely need Robertson fit and ready for the quarter final legs.

I would have had Moreno line up on Saturday for that reason alone. The news that Robertson picked up a dead leg playing for Scotland this week only makes me more certain that Moreno is the right option for the Crystal Palace game.

The quality of Robertson’s performances and the memories of Moreno’s mistakes could easily make you think there is no way we can go with the Spaniard. Though it is worth remembering the decent run of form he was showing before this season before the December injury made way for Robertson to cement his place as first choice left back.
