Absolutely immense! Liverpool fans in 7th heaven with star’s City performance

Liverpool fans are in seventh heaven following the performance of star defender Trent Alexander-Arnold against Manchester City in the Champions League.

The 19-year-old produced a season-defining 90 minutes as Jurgen Klopp’s team brushed away the City challenge.

Despite being unmatched in the Premier League, the Citizens have now been beaten twice by this vibrant, exciting, youthful Reds outfit.

And while a 3-0 lead could turn sour in the second leg, if Liverpool play to their ability the game should be safe and a semi-final spot secured.

Alexander-Arnold started the game at right-back, and will continue to do so in light of Joe Gomez’s injury and Nathaniel Clyne’s long walk to fitness, and produced an incredible performance to shackle Leroy Sane.

The youngster made four tackles, seven interceptions, 10 clearances and won the ball back 10 times in a performance that has Liverpool fans in seventh heaven.

There is now a real buzz and excitement around Alexander-Arnold, who has progressed rapidly after Clyne was ruled out of the first half of the season.

In fact, England international Joe Gomez has also benefited from the senior player’s absence – although his injury sustained on Three Lions duty robbed him the chance to play on the big stage.

There is another huge game coming up for Liverpool, who take on Everton in the Premier League. While both matches have a different significance, it’s crucial that the club come away from them with a win.

Klopp’s men will certainly have a real zip in training about them, and it’s encouraging to see Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain continue their good form.
