No.5 – Liverpool Will Score

The only way to stop this Liverpool scoring is to give up hope of scoring yourself. Even City wanted to do that, they aren’t equipped defensively to make it happen. I will feel a lot better about Liverpool’s chances of scoring once I see Mohamed Salah’s name on that team sheet. However I think Liverpool have enough in Mane, Firmino and Oxlade-Chamberlain to get on the score sheet.

An away goal will change everything. Man City prefer a patient game of controlling the midfield and probing with short passing. If the Reds get a first half score then City will have to move into full on panic mode.

They will need five goals (at least) to win the fixture. They are able to do that  but being able and making it happen are two different things.

If Liverpool score first then I think they can win the game. Not just qualify. Win this football match. Away in Europe. They are good enough to do that. I also think they will want to get that showpiece victory.

Nobody will favor the Reds over the likely opponents of Bayern Munich, Barcelona or Real Madrid in the Semi-Finals. A win at the Etihad will make every reconsider how highly they rate this Liverpool side.
