Liverpool sailed through to the semi finals of the Champions League with a 5-1 aggregate win over Manchester City. Here are our player ratings v Man City:
ALLEZ ALLEZ ALLEZ! Liverpool blazed through to the Semi Finals of the Champions League with a 2-1 over Manchester City at the Etihad. A nervy first half gave every Liverpool fan serious heart complaints. But a Mohamed Salah goal settled nerves before Roberto Firmino wrapped things up for a home and away double for the Reds.
Jurgen Klopp made just one change to the side that beat Man City in the first leg. That move was enforced by suspension with Gini Wijnaldum coming in for Jordan Henderson who missed out after a picking up a yellow card last week.
An awful start gave us all that sinking feeling. Virgil van Dijk gave the ball away on the wing and Sterling burst into the gap and fed Jesus for the nightmare start.
The first half took forever and City had a disallowed goal which probably should have stood. That break was taken full advantage of in the second half. Mohamed Salah got his 39th goal of the season with a glorious chipped finish. Firmino sealed the tie with a precise finish late on and sent the reds to their first Champions League Semi Final for ten years.
