Center Back: Ragnar Klavan

The Estonian played at left back last week and made a cameo late on against City in Europe in midweek. He is back around the first team again for the first time since Virgil van Dijk came to the club.

The season ending injury to Joel Matip has given him an opportunity to play a part in the last two months of the season. There are seven (hopefully eight) games left of this season. An injury or suspension to either van Dijk or Dejan Lovren would make Klavan a key player in important games.

That is why I want to see him get more time at center back in games we can afford to rotate players. He played against the Cherries in December and helped the Reds to a clean sheet. Bournemouth offered nothing as Liverpool won 4-0 on that evening.

Klavan went about his job on the right side of the center back pairing with professionalism and ease. A repeat performance on Saturday would be very welcome.
