Left Back: Alberto Moreno

He missed out of appearing from the bench against Everton after picking up a small strain in the warm up. The manager had already gone for Ragnar Klavan as the left back for that game but he may turn to Moreno for this game.

It has been two very different halves of a season for the Spaniard. From August until his injury in December was his best spell in a Liverpool shirt. He wasn’t just okay or serviceable; he was decent.

The injury was unfortunate for him and just bad luck. But now it is not injury keeping him away from first team action it is the wonderful, glorious, brilliant rise of Andy Robertson as a top flight left back.

The Scotsman has been exceptional. You know that. The world knows that too after the two legs against Manchester City. Now we are at the stage where we will rest Robbo as one of our best players. It’s a madness, but it should open the door for Moreno to get some game time before the season is out!
