The man deserves a chance

Danny Ings has had a tough life at Anfield. Injuries have destroyed his progress just as things were looking bright, and the incredible form of Roberto Firmino has stopped him for getting anything but the most brief sniff of first team action.

But with that niggle picked up this week, Firmino should be rested with an eye on the future and Ings should be given his chance to shine.

The English striker doesn’t offer the same threat at Bobby, but during his time on the pitch he’s proven he knows where the back of the net is. When fit, Ings’ goals-to-games ratio is actually pretty good.

With Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi out on loan, giving the ex-Burnley man a chance here might let him preserve his Liverpool future and prove to Klopp that he’s the man to take the club forward.

Another start would also allow Ings to develop his match fitness further, which will be required if an injury does strike Firmino down. This type of long-ish term planning could come in useful if the unthinkable happens.
