Liverpool Player Ratings: Defenders

He is fully of confidence after his two excellent performances in the Champions League. Defended brilliantly once again but it is his attacking contributions that really get you off your seat. An incredible deep cross for Mohamed Salah to head home looked just like his hero Steven Gerrard. That is not an exaggeration.. Right Back. Liverpool. TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD. 9

8. He looks like he is enjoying his football more than at any other time of his Anfield career. Made a fantastic sliding tackle late in the first half to deny a Bournemouth counter attack. Went off injured late on. A thin rank of defenders means we cannot afford another injury at the back.. Center Back. Liverpool. DEJAN LOVREN

When the opposition give him this much room van Dijk turns into a deep lying playmaker. He spent the first half pinging balls left and right; probing the Bournemouth back line. He is the boss. Bossing is what he does.. Center Back. Liverpool. VIRGIL VAN DIJK. 8

Left Back. Liverpool. ANDREW ROBERTSON. 8. Pressing, harassing, crossing. Turning up at the back stick to head the ball like an attacker. Making tackles in his box. He is everywhere, always. Had a quieter second half and just made sure the Liverpool lead was maintained and the clean sheet achieved.
