Right Back: Trent Alexander-Arnold

It was good to see pictures of Joe Gomez training with the first team yesterday. The defender injured his ankle on international duty with England and has been missing the last three weeks.

The defensive ranks have been down to bare bones in that time. Joel Matip is out for the season and Dejan Lovren, Ragnar Klavan and Alberto Moreno have all had niggles in that period. Fortunately we have been able to field a back four in every game.

Gomez will be very welcome back for availability as a player who can cover all three defensive positions. If he were match fit I would have him this weekend against West Brom.

The Baggies only really pose a threat from set-pieces. The height of Gomez would be ideal to help us at corners and free kicks. However I doubt that Klopp takes any risks with his first team players and injuries.

The Reds have been very cautious bringing players back from spells on the sidelines. I am almost certain Trent Alexander-Arnold will start at The Hawthorns and against Roma. Gomez will be in line to take the field against Stoke next weekend.
