Liverpool are lining up two Portuguese stars for summer transfers. Both Ruben Neves and Bruno Fernandes have been linked to the Reds in the past 24 hours.
The pool of players Liverpool are looking at this summer is growing. There continues to be stories about long-term targets such as Thomas Lemar, Jorginho and Julian Brandt. But now we have some players on the radar.
A pair of Portugal internationals are the latest names to come to the fore of the transfer speculation. Yesterday it was Bruno Fernandes of Sporting Lisbon. The Reds are watching the attacker according to the Mirror. They could fight it out with Spurs and Barcelona for his signature.
While he is a very strong option he is likely to cost £87 million which makes a move from Liverpool dubious. Jurgen Klopp is willing to spend money but I am not sure Fernandes is in that tier of quality to command a bid over £50 million.
Today the gossip has shifted to Wolves star Ruben Neves. A tweet from a Portuguese journalist Marcus Alves has sent speculation into overdrive.
His claim is that a deal is in the works for Liverpool to take Neves to Anfield. Then Anderson Talisca would move to Wolves as a replacement. The Brazilian forward is at Besiktas on loan from Benfica .
It was a surprise that Neves moved to Championship side Wolves in the summer. He was linked to numerous top flight European teams so a move to a mid-table second tier side in England. The role of ‘super agent’ Jorge Mendes is thought to be the source of the move.
This wonder goal from Neves last week got Liverpool fans on Twitter talking about a move. This latest news will only go to fuel that chatter.
