Liverpool eased off against West Brom. Certainly that was true in the second half but there was also less of the trademark hassle and hustle before the break as well. There are a number of reasons for that drop in pressure but all of them must be corrected before the first leg against Roma tomorrow.

Obviously having Roberto Firmino back in the side will make great strides (literally) to an effective pressing forward unit. Danny Ings did not let the side down with his effort but Firmino is exceptional at forcing errors and making tackles. He also sets the tone for Salah and Sadio Mane to do the same.

The West Brom tactics also counter the effectiveness of Klopp’s pressing system. The Baggies were happy to surrender position, sit deep and hoof it to Rondon. The question is how adventurous will Roma be?

They were very cautious at the Nou Camp and paid for it with a 4-1 loss. Now obviously they turned it around in the second leg but they may not make the same mistake twice. Hopefully that will open things up for the front three to start to pressing.
