Mane injury tweets send Liverpool Twitter into meltdown

A flurry of tweets from journalists about an injury to Sadio Mane sent Liverpool twitter into meltdown. Here is the latest injury update for Mane.
It only takes a few tweets to send social media into a spiral of panic. After a couple of journalists tweeted that Sadio Mane was set to miss the rest of the season with injury there was an explosion of worry on Liverpool twitter today.
Ex-BBC journalist Ben Smith (@BSmith) followed by Sky Sports Ben Dinnery (@BenDinnery) both tweeted that Mane was ruled out for the year with a hamstring injury. Both accounts are ‘blue ticked’ official accounts and the news rocked Liverpool twitter.
Rumors had been flying around social media all morning of an injury to Mane. He was seen going to the hospital and did not train with the rest of the squad. That fueled speculation that injury news for the Senegalese forward was forthcoming.
However Smith deleted his tweet almost instantly. The source of the rumor appears to Andrew Heaton from the influential The Anfield Wrap podcast and website. He tweeted an old article from the official Liverpool twitter account from the injury Mane received on international duty way back in October.
The current rumor is that Mane does have a small knock on his foot and will probably be rested against Stoke City on Saturday. He should be 100% ready to go against Rome on Wednesday. However we are still waiting for the latest official injury news.
That old Mane tweet has been used as a windup on numerous times by many accounts over the last few months. Always worth checking the time stamp!
It will be good for Sadio Mane to get a game off as he has started the last 22 games for Liverpool; a far longer streak than any other Red. The nearest is Virgil van Dijk who has started the last nine games.
Next: Rotate or not? This is the back four we want against Stoke
Liverpool have already had one player ruled out for the season this week with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain suffering a knee injury against Roma. With Joel Matip, Adam Lallana and Emre Can all unlikely to see the field again, Liverpool need all the injury luck they can get at the minute.
