Liverpool fans are reacting to the news that Sam Allardyce will be the Everton manager next season with predictable joy and cruel wit.

Schadenfreude is defined as ‘pleasure derived by someone from another person’s misfortune’. The entire Liverpool fanbase is engaged in that today as news is emerging that Everton manager Sam ‘Big Sam’ Allardyce is set to stay at Goodison Park for another season.

Reds fans are delighted that the disgraced ex-England coach is going to keep plying his putrid brand of football across Stanley Park next year. The Ev have been awful in every statistical category and many Blues cannot stand the sight of the turgid play his side deals out on a weekly basis. An unhappy Toffee is a wonderful thing watch!

The contrasting fortunes of the two sides is not lost on the Kopites. While Everton are struggling to manage a shot on target, Liverpool are marching towards the Champions League cup final with the best attack in Europe.

Mohamed Salah is breaking records (and Evertonian psyches) with every passing game. He is playing at a level we are only accustomed to seeing from Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Reds are the top scoring side on the continent and it’s not even close. Liverpool have scored more goals in 13 European games than The Ev have scored in 35 league appearances. It is truly hilarious.

The best is potentially yet to come. Liverpool could well take home the Champions League trophy and parade it around the city. Though there are 180 mins of football before we can look forward to that.

The Blues face the prospect of Sam Allardyce spending the Everton coffers this season on a bunch of Premier League duffers. Could we see Andy Carroll back on Merseyside? I seriously hope so. It is a great time to be a Red!
