Liverpool struggles to a 0-0 draw against Stoke City in the Premier League at Anfield. Here is our Liverpool player ratings v Stoke.

It was a frustrating after noon for Liverpool at Anfield today as the Reds struggled their way to a goalless draw with Stoke City. Despite the Potters needing to win to help their relegation battle they seemed content to play defensively and take the point. A tired and distracted Liverpool side could not find enough intensity to break them down.

There were four personnel changes from Tuesday’s huge 5-2 win against Roma in the Champions League. There was lots of shuffling in defense; Joe Gomez started at right back with Trent Alexander-Arnold moving into midfield for James Milner; Alberto Moreno replaced Andrew Robertson and Ragnar Klavan in for Dejan Lovren.

Danny Ings got a second Premier League start in a row, this time for Sadio Mane who was the subject of crazy injury speculation this week. While many were speculating three at the back or even a 442, the Reds ended up in their usual formation.

Liverpool had a goal disallowed for Danny Ings for a marginal offside – probably the right call but I have no idea how the line official saw it. Should have had two penalties – a pull by Pieters on Salah; a clear handball – but the Reds have only been given one spot kick at Anfield all season in the league.

Here are our Liverpool player ratings v Stoke:

7. No saves for Karius in the first half but came out well when called on. Only worrying moment was an errant pass but Gomez and VVD covered him and made sure Stoke couldn’t capitalize. Nothing to do in the second half as Liverpool pushed forwards trying to find the winner.. Goalkeeper. Liverpool. LORIS KARIUS
