Fekir to Liverpool rumours gain pace as more journalists hop onboard

Rumours are gathering pace of Nabil Fekir moving to Liverpool this summer in a huge transfer after more journalists hop onboard the story.
While most transfer rumours begin in the usual outlets of idle speculation, the transfer of Nabil Fekir to Liverpool came from a dependable source. RMC Sport is a well-respected French outlet that broke the Fekir to Liverpool story on Sunday.
Now almost 48 hours later and more pieces are coming in as other journalists hop on to the transfer story. It is being reported that Eurosport France journalist Romain Collet-Gaudin has confirmed to @AnfieldExpress that the deal is done. A screenshot of a DM seems to confirm this.
That tweet also confirmed that the rumour Liverpool were also making a move for his brother, Yassin Fekir. However that deal is not finished.
Elsewhere, Canal+ are reporting that Fekir has already met with Jurgen Klopp about the move. If that is the case then it would be a sure sign that this is not one of the fanciful rumours but has substance behind it.
There are some remarkable similarities with recent Liverpool transfers lending credence to the accuracy of this reporting. News of Liverpool’s interest in Mohamed Salah and Naby Keita broke from foreign journalists with inside access to the players.
Liverpool based journalists have been largely silent on the matter, another sign of its plausibility. The Reds like to do their business away from the media’s gaze as much as possible.
Both Keita and Virgil van Dijk met with Klopp before their moves were announced. In fact, part of the current secrecy may stem from the frustration Liverpool found in those deals once they were made public. Neither Southampton or RB Leipzig could be seen to lose their star players in August.

Don’t expect any confirmation any time soon. Last season Liverpool were working on a deal for Mohamed Salah at this time of year but it was not confirmed until June 22nd. Hopefully we can get something more concrete before the World Cup starts.
