Former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has lifted the lid on a hilarous Jurgen Klopp moment from their time in Germany.

The widely traveled midfielder has given an interview in German publication Spiegel in which he talked about his brief time working under the Reds’ manager.

And a helpful Reddit user has translated what Boateng said so all the club’s English speaking followers could gain a funny little insight into how the man works.

These little snippets into the daily life of the football boss show that he’s substance and style. It’s easy to accuse Klopp of managing via a personality cult thanks to his performances in press conferences and on the sidelines.

But this campaign must have proven that he’s much, much more than that. It’s clear that the German improves players, he’s skilled at playing the transfer market and his brand of football just works.

While the league campaign may have petered out a little as the Champions League battle drew on, but the fact that Liverpool will line up against Real Madrid to fight for Europe’s highest honours in Kiev is a testament to his skills.

Klopp’s career might have got better from the time Boateng was around him, but it’s hard to say that the midfielder’s has.

The Ghana international has been at more clubs than you can shake a stick at: Hertha Berlin, Tottenham Hotspur, Dortmund, Portsmouth, Genoa, AC Milan (twice), Schalke, Las Palmas and Frankfurt can all count themselves among the senior clubs that Boateng has trotted out for.

His 114 games for Milan are a bit of an outsider. Most teams get him in, then get him out. Six sides have shipped Boateng off after less than 30 games, while he’s played more than 50 times for just three teams. Including AC, they are Hertha and Schalke.
