Liverpool fans are reacting to the news today from Liverpool City Council about the details of a victory parade if the Reds win the Champions League.

Football fans are superstitious people and Liverpool fans are no exception. Many have been taking to social media today to talk about Liverpool City Council announcing plans of a victory parade if Liverpool win the Champions League next Saturday.

While practically, fans can understand why the City Council have released the information, many are afraid that this will ‘jinx’ the game.

The parade will occur the day after the final – Sunday 27th May – and will take place along the waterfront before finishing near the Liverpool Olympia. Most of the fans who are traveling to the game itself will not make it back in time.

Some fans are angry that they will miss the party back in the city center while others are being more philosophical; who cares if they miss the party, that means Liverpool will be European Champions. A price worth paying.

Let’s be honest, if football fans can find something to moan about then they will absolutely moan about it. The World Cup is a huge deal for the players who will be playing from Anfield. I like giving them as much time as possible with their international squads.

I am certain that any grievances about the parade will long be forgotten in the euphoria of a sixth European Cup victory for Liverpool Football Club.

If you are the superstitious sort there is much you can do to balance any voodoo of announcing a parade; bring out all the lucky shirts and scarves; watch the final where you watched Rafa Benitez’ side win in Istanbul in 2005; pray to every God you can think of!
