Liverpool midfielder James Milner has roasted left back Andrew Robertson on Instagram with a savage burn. Literally.

The phrase ‘savage burn’ has become popular to describe a perfectly directed insult. Liverpool vice-captain James Milner has taken that phrase literally as he rips into teammate Andy Robertson over his sunburn on Instagram.

Milner posted a picture from the Liverpool training camp in Marbella, Spain of Andy Robertson looking a little pink around the arms. The contrast with his pale white upper arms is glaring. In savage fashion Milner set the pic of Robbo next to some pink and white candy with the captions:

Perhaps Milner is annoyed that Andy Robertson has taken his position from last season as Liverpool’s first choice left back! Just kidding.

The squad look like they are having fun and unwinding in Spain. Pictures from the camp show a side who are laughing, smiling and enjoying each other and some rest. They are taking this lead up to the Champions League final in their stride.

The Reds had started to look tired at the end of the season only managing one win in five games before Sunday’s Champions League place clinching win against Brighton & Hove Albion. A week’s rest before that game did them the world of good as they ran out 4-0 winners.

Having two weeks preparation for the UCL final against Real Madrid will mean those available will be fit and raring to go. Real better be ready.

The high pressing, blistering counter attack style of Jurgen Klopp’s Reds requires sufficient rest and recovery. This trip to Marbella looks like it is doing the world of good to both the physical state and team spirit. Roll on Kiev!
