The intent Liverpool are showing in the transfer market should be frightening their biggest rivals.

After confirming the deal to bring Fabinho to Anfield, the head honchos at the club have wasted no time in moving on to their next targets.

Nabil Fekir is now the next name ready to be ticked off the list, and reports have been indicating that a £50 million plus move had already been made.

Loris Karius may have earned a first team place off Simon Mignolet, but his poor showing in the Champions League final seems to have put the final nail in his Liverpool coffin as Jan Oblak and Alisson Becker are being tracked once again (follow here for the Oblak news, here for the Becker report.)

This shock and awe transfer strategy that’s currently being brought to fruition by Klopp and his team should leave the rest of the Reds’ divisional rivals frightened as well as their continental ones.

Fabinho is the first step in transforming a side with an electric attack and a flimsy defense into one whose backbone is as good as its edge. The converted full-back will be able to screen the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Dejan Lovren like nobody else has before, which will give the more creative midfielders further license to get forward.

By spending a lot on just two or three targets Liverpool are strengthening their problem areas without flooding the squad with new faces and crowding the lanes. Getting these deals done early will allow them to have a proper pre-season and bed in with the team before kicking a ball in anger.

Swooping fast will also keep the big players, such as Chelsea and Manchester United, off balance. The Fabinho deal was announced with barely a peep of pre-transfer activity and things should stay that way.

The feeling around the camp is now so good that it’s developing a life of its own. Players will want to come to Anfield and experience a vibrant atmosphere, unlike the one being fostered at United. And by beating rivals, and securing early deals, Liverpool are laying down a serious marker. The rest of the league should look on with fear.
