Relive Emre Can’s finest moment in a Liverpool shirt as the midfielder prepares to depart the club on a free transfer.
Reports have said that Can will join Juventus on a four-year deal after his contract with the Reds expires. Thus ends a saga that has been rumbling on since September.
The German has been on Merseyside since 2014, when he joined the club from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth €12 million.
In that time the 24-year-old made 167 appearances for Liverpool, hit the back the of the net 14 times and create 12 assists. While those stats aren’t world-class, Can did grow into an important part of the side and manager Jurgen Klopp will be sad to lose him on a free.

But probably not too sad, as Fabinho and Naby Keita coming into the midfield will probably help sooth the wounds left behind.
Throughout all those games, Can’s finest moment probably wasn’t a thunderbolt of a goal or a glorious cross-field pass. It has to be the moment below, for it was simply magnificent.

It displays all the unashamed shithousery of a man worth £30 million who let his deal run down and left the club who developed him on a free transfer. Come to think of it, are we all really surprised?
Clubs will lesser strength in depth and less financial resources might be more crippled by such a talent departing for nothing, but Klopp’s swift action in the transfer market has ensured that won’t happen.
While the two incoming midfielders will be a huge boost, Can’s departure might also allow a talented youngster – like Marko Grujic – to finally make his claim for a first team spot.
Grujic has just finished a fine loan spell at Cardiff City, who got promoted to the Premier League, and his future will be one to keep a key eye on.
