Liverpool fans have reacted with delight to the news that Timo Werner is flirting with the club.
This has been spearheaded by an interview the RB Leipzig forward did in Germany in which the Germany international admitted that his ambitions lay beyond his current team.
Werner said that in order to reach the pinnacle of the game, he would have to leave Leipzig and play with a top side – reported the Metro.
Former teammate Naby Keita has made the switch from the Red Bull sponsored outfit to Anfield, and the striker namedropped Keita as a player who had moved in order to better himself.

Liverpool have already secured the signing of Fabinho from AS Monaco, and have been heavily linked with Nabil Fekir from Lyon – so their transfer intent is clear.
The squad looks a little thin in terms of forwards reinforcements, although if Fekir arrived it would add further strength in depth. Back in March it was reported by the press that the club weren’t interested in Werner, but if a player of his class became available you’d hope Klopp would jump on it.
His quotes definitely make it seem like the youngster believes his time with Leipzig is nearly up. “To become a world-class player, I’ll probably have to play in an even better team at club level,’ the Metro reported that he said.
“I want to be honest, Naby Keita hasn’t become world class with us either, he may now be at Liverpool,” concluded the striker.

While those words are promising, it does indicate a player who might not completely buy into a team-first ethos. You’d question whether that’s the type of bloke Klopp would want in the team.
