Liverpool fans fall further in love with star

Liverpool fans have fallen deeper in love with injured star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after he made an appearance at Anfield.

The former Arsenal man has started to win over Reds’ hearts and minds following a poor start to his career on Merseyside.

And Oxlade-Chamberlain posed for pictures with supporters before Brazil took on Croatia in an international friendly at Liverpool’s home ground.

Roberto Firmino sealed the win against Dejan Lovren’s country with a 93th minute win, but Neymar inflicted the early damage by scoring after 69 minutes – which was assisted by former Red Philippe Coutinho.

Defender Dejan Lovren almost put one in the back of the net for the Europeans, but his header whistled past the post as those in the Kop end watched on.

Those who gathered in the stands before the game would have hoped to meet their Liverpool heros, and Oxlade-Chamberlain didn’t disappoint as he stopped to meet and greet. It’s that ability to connect with the supporters that ultimately bonds a team to those who watch them, and they have responded with great positivity online. Read what people have been saying below!

Firmino clearly had a good day at the races as he looks to book his place in the 23 man World Cup squad for Brazil, while Lovren will also be hoping that he did enough to avoid the axe as Croatia boss Zlatko Dalić has to leave out a further four players.

There will be plenty of summer watching for Liverpool fans as the tournament prepares to kick off. Unfortunately for Oxlade-Chamberlain, he will have to join those viewing the action from his sofa as injury ruined his chances of making the England squad.

All we can hope for now is a swift recovery and a return to the levels that the ex-Gunner was reaching before he was struck down.
