Liverpool are in transfer battle with Real Madrid to sign AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker this summer. Here are 5 reasons he will choose Liverpool over Real.

Liverpool are fighting it out with Real Madrid for Alisson Becker from AS Roma. Ordinarily you would give up hope of beating the Spanish giants to a signing but there is good reason to think Liverpool can get this one done.

Alisson moved to Roma from Brazil in 2016 but had to sit behind former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny who was on loan in the Italian capital. After the Gunners sold the Polish keeper to Serie A rivals Juventus, Alisson took the gloves at Roma.

He turned in an exceptional season and has become one of the hottest goalkeepers on the transfer market. At only 25-years-old he has room to improve and could play for his next club for a decade or more.

Alongside the usual highlight reel of wonder saves you’d expect from a top class keeper, there is also the Brazilian’s ability with his feet. He has been known to grab an assist or two with his distribution.

Liverpool are very much in the market for a new keeper. Jurgen Klopp dropped long-term starter Simon Mignolet back at the turn of the year. Loris Karius came in and initially grabbed his opportunity making some decent saves as Liverpool chased a top four finish in the Premier League and progressed to Champions League final.

Though two horrible errors in the 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the European Cup have highlighted the German’s limitations. Liverpool are willing to break the bank to find a top-level goalie.

There are good reasons to believe Liverpool can beat out Real to make Alisson the latest player to stand between the sticks at Anfield next season.
