Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has poleaxed his brother in a garden kickabout while on holiday.

Lovren, who has been included in Croatia’s squad for the World Cup finals in Russia, was messing about with his family while on a day off and ended up teaching his bro about the art of tough tackling.

The former Southampton man filmed himself throwing a chest-high, two footed lunge tackle at Davor Lovren while messing about on a tiny patch of grass by a pool in his homeland.

Davor is a professional footballer himself, but the 19-year-old is unlikely to have experienced tackling like it during his short time in the pro game.

The winger has just completed the first year of a two year-long loan spell with German outfit with Fortuna Düsseldorf, in which Fortuna have the option to buy from parent club Dinamo Zagreb. During 14 league appearances for Fortuna, he scored one goal and created two assists.

But brother Dejan’s life isn’t all just chilling by the pool, laughs and jokes. He’s become involved in a corruption case in Croatia, alongside Real Madrid superstar Luka Modric. Modric is further up the creek without a paddle and could even see jail time – while Lovren could also be charged.

The Guardian has reported that the pair were payed 50% of their transfer fee that took them away from Zagreb. Their agent, Zdravko Mamic, has already been found guilty of corruption and the net could widen and take in the two stars.

In on-pitch matters, Lovren faced off against Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane as Croatia took on Senegal in the World Cup warmup game on Friday night in Osijek. The defender only played 45 minutes as he was protected by manager Zlatko Dalić. Mane featured for the full game as the Baltic side ran out 2-1 winners.

Despite frequently coming under fire for his performances, Lovren ended the domestic season in a fine vein of form and appears to play a lot better when paired with Virgil van Dijk. The 28-year-old played 29 times in the league made 12 Champions League appearances, which signals the manager Jurgen Klopp rates him highly.
