Fernando Torres

It’s the case of another striker who you felt just didn’t want to be at the club anymore, which affected performances and left a sour taste in the mouth of Liverpool fans.

After a stunning start to his Reds career, which included 65 goals in 102 appearances, Torres suddenly demanded to leave as he felt that Anfield wasn’t going to satisfy his professional needs any more.

Torres put in a transfer request in January after Liverpool rejected a huge £40 million bid for the Spaniard, as per the Telegraph. This request was turned down, said Goal, but the forward pushed to make it happen and Chelsea eventually landed their man for £50 million.

That move came just six months after he publicly affirmed his loyalty to the club. The BBC wrote that he said: “My commitment and loyalty to the club and to the fans is the same as it was on my first day when I signed.”
