Liverpool transfer target Xherdan Shaqiri had an awesome nickname from his Bayern Munich days and it’ll win you over.

According to the brains behind Balls.ie, fans of the German giants called Shaqiri Der Kraftwürfel – which means the Powercube. And if that doesn’t convince you that he’ll be an awesome signing, nothing will.

The Swiss international was gifted this incredible name because of his size and style of play: the attacker is small, stocky, powerful and has explosive pace. The Powercube.

After just 81 games, that included a highly respectable 17 goals and 19 assists, Bayern chose to offload Mr. Cube to Stoke City for just £17 million – something that still has to go down as an incredible steal by the Potters.

It’s only following relegation that Shaqiri has been made available for transfer, and that’s a move Stoke bosses would have made reluctantly you’d image. The 26-year-old was a vital part of the side, and played 36 Premier League games, scoring eight goals and assisting seven others.

Liverpool are ready to move for the ex-Basel trainee, said the Mirror, but will wait until the World Cup is over before they pounce. Despite the deal for Nabil Fekir falling through, Shaqiri is not a replacement for the Lyon star, wrote the paper.

Instead, the club can afford to bring both attackers to the club – although whether manager Jurgen Klopp will want to upset the balance of the squad by doing that remains to be seen.

With 70 international caps under his belt and 20 goals, Shaqiri will be considered a vital weapon in Switzerland’s arsenal. They will take on Brazil, Costa Rica and Serbia as they look to progress in the competition.

The Reds have a strong squad, and you’d imagine the attacker would play a rotation role instead of the main man that he was at Stoke. If Shaqiri can accept that, be prepared to see the Powercube at Anfield soon!
