Liverpool fans are split on the potential transfer of Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City this summer. Here is a video of his goals and assists that will get you hyped!

There are two camps of fans forming around the potential move of Xherdan Shaqiri to Liverpool; those who think it is a bargain and those who think we should be trying to get more ambitious targets. I lean towards those who think it will be good for the club.

The playmaker is a strong, dynamic whirlwind. He would add another player who could dribble the ball forward in central areas. If he were to play as one of the wide forwards then his crossing and assist creation will be key. He can also bang a goal or two from distance. We missed that last season once Philippe Coutinho left and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was injured.

Here is a video of all Shaqiri’s goals and assists from the Premier League last season for Stoke City:

Last year was the best of his career since leaving FC Basel in 2012. What makes his tally of 8 goals and 7 assists even more impressive is the lack of supporting cast around him. He would certainly have had more goals if there were other creative players around him. Equally he would have bumped his assist tally with a strike force better than Eric Choupo-Moting and a 37-year-old Peter Crouch.

What really gets me excited is the quality of his delivery from set pieces. While we’ve had some good shooting free kick takers in recent years like Coutinho and Luis Suarez we’ve not had quality delivery from corners and deep/wide free kicks since Xabi Alonso left in 2009.

Some of that dynamic play from the bench will be a great boost for Jurgen Klopp who saw precious little game changing ability from his substitutes this season.
