Liverpool Twitter has reacted with disgust to the suggestion that David Luiz should be a transfer target.

Popular account LFC Transfer Room posted a hypothetical that asked if Reds would be happy to see the Brazilian brought to Anfield – and social media reacted with horror.

Luiz will likely see his second spell at the Blues end this summer and Arsenal have been credited with making a £17.6 million bid for the defender, said the Metro.

He played just five times in 2018 as Chelsea ended their season on a whimper and the 31-year-old didn’t do much better. Youngster Andreas Christensen has now replaced Luiz in the starting line-up and now could be the time for the Stamford Bridge side to cash in.

It’s no secret that Liverpool need to bring in defensive reinforcements to strengthen the spine of their side. Virgil van Dijk is an outstanding performer but he needs more quality alongside him than Dejan Lovren or Joel Matip.

But fans don’t think the two-time Chelsea man would be up to the job. This is the player Gary Neville described as looking like he was controlled by a 10 year old on a Playstation – although Luiz made improvements since then and in 2016 was called ‘perfect’ by Neville, said Goal. Scroll below to see what LFC Twitter thought of the suggestion and let us know your opinion in the comments below!

At this stage of his career, it’s unlikely that Reds’ gaffer Jurgen Klopp would turn to the former Paris Saint-Germain man. A younger player, like Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles, is certainly more likely to attract the interest of the German.
