Raheem Sterling

It looked like Raheem Sterling would have the world at his feet and Anfield was going to be his stage. The youngster nearly won the Premier League, and with Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, made up one of the best forward lines in the competition.

But then came that mess about his contract, that interview with the BBC and Manchester City’s petro-pounds. The rest was inevitable really and Sterling left the club for £57.3 million in the summer of 2015.

What happened next?

The move appears to have been productive for the young England international. He has now won the league as well as two League Cups and recently enjoyed his best ever season.

New City manager Pep Guardiola has pushed Sterling to new levels and the forward scored 18 goals while grabbing 15 assists in 33 league games. Whatever you think, that’s an astonishing return.

At 23, Sterling is young enough to keep improving and should have the world at his feet in the next few years.
