Liverpool have been linked with a move for Ajax Under-17 defensive wonderkid Ki-Jana Hoever who has reportedly been visiting England.

If you are saying “who?” then join the club. Ajax defender Ki-Jana Hoever has been linked with Liverpool today after reports that he has been visiting teams in England ahead of a move to a Premier League side.

An obscure tweet from a Dutch scout and assessor for the computer game Football Manager revealed that Hoever was in England meeting teams recently. Obviously that is not news in itself.

However today Andy Heaton of the excellent The Anfield Wrap fan media team retweeted the news from two weeks ago with a ‘side-eyes’ emoji prompting speculation that Liverpool were a team he visited.

He then followed that up with another tweet with a pun on the player’s name:

It is difficult to tell the validity of the rumor at this stage. Heaton has been known to be at the front end of accurate transfer speculation before and The Anfield Wrap team are well-connected in the city and with the club. However he has also been known to pull a wind up or two!

The obscurity of the player suggests to me that it is true. It is not the kind of news that the club would be devastated to have leaked and is too random to just pull out of the air as a joke.

We have no indication if a deal is close other than these tweets, but my guess is that Heaton would not be messing around with real information unless it was already done or virtually in the bag.
