Liverpool rule out entering the transfer race for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish, leaving Spurs to chase down the overrated youngster.

Cross this one off the transfer rumor list. Liverpool are categorically not interested in Aston Villa youngster Jack Grealish. The Villa man has been rumored to a move to the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur most linked with the midfielder.

Despite The Mirror journalist John Richardson claiming that Liverpool are readying a £20 million bid there is no interest in the England under-21 man at all. The reporters closest to the club were quick to play down the speculation today.

The journalists cite both the player’s limited ability and his attitude and character as reasons Liverpool would not even consider him. They are happy to leave the attention seeking, overrated Englishmen for Spurs to hoover up.

Jurgen Klopp is very specific about the players who have the physical and technical attributes to fit into his system. Clearly Grealish has neither the pace or strength to be a midfielder under Klopp and his technical ability is laughable for consideration for this Liverpool side.

Add to that genuine concerns about the player’s suspect character and those rumors linking Grealish to Anfield are clearly pulled out of someone’s ass.

Do journalists really make things like this out of thin air? Perhaps not. More likely is that Villa hinted or implied Liverpool were interested to try to prompt Tottenham Hotspur into making a move. They are clearly desperate to unload an overrated player for a premium to help boost funds after failing to make it back to the Premier League this season and are hoping Spurs are mugs enough to bid.

Things have grown very quiet on the transfer front for Liverpool. The news that they are unlikely to buy a new keeper coupled with the Nabil Fekir transfer being sidelined means it is another slow summer for Liverpool fans eager to see new signings.
