Liverpool pre-season: Every player fighting for his future
Danny Ings
Like Sturridge, Ings needs a redemption story. But this one will be very different, given that Ings fall from grace was caused by several very serious knee injuries.
And the former Burnley man did spark a little during Liverpool’s previous campaign – but there is serious competition for places now and that may not be enough to save him.
Ings scored against Chester as well in that 7-0 demolition, but didn’t feature against Tranmere as Klopp opted to give several younger members of the squad a go.
So what could that mean? Well, Newcastle United want to sign the striker – said HITC – and you’d think he’d relish working under Rafa Benitez and getting more game time. With so many available players now, you wonder if being left out of the Rovers fixture is a sign.
