Many are calling for Klopp to hand Xherdan Shaqiri a start and his competitive debut for LFC, but it’s probably more likely he’ll feature from the bench.

Similarly, the omission of fellow new boy Fabinho may surprise a few. In this case, Klopp has made a few references throughout pre-season that the Brazilian is not used to Liverpool’s style of play. It may be that the German feels Fabinho isn’t quite ready for Premier League football.

In addition to this, it is a fair assessment to think that Liverpool may not have major need for a more traditional holding player at home to a side likely to defend and hit on the break.
