It’s been said a lot but Manchester City can only get better from last season and that’s something that should scare everyone. A lot of their key players are still young and improving, which they will under Pep Guardiola.

Liverpool have had a very good transfer window, better than any other team’s, but they still don’t have enough strength in depth to match City – although it’ll be a close run thing. That front three of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino is as good as anyone has in the league, but there is still little quality, dependable depth.

A goalkeeper upgrade in the form of Alisson and an incredible strengthening of the midfield will help take the Reds past Manchester United. There is now a strong spine for the first time in ages and that’ll help a lot – but it won’t take Liverpool all the way.

United seem joyless right now, Tottenham Hotspur haven’t made a single signing and Chelsea are going to be a bit of an unknown under Maurizio Sarri. They’re a quality team, make no mistake, and 2018/2019 will be anything but easy.
