Learning to win ugly

Liverpool’s coveted front three weren’t at their best against Brighton. Despite the fact that they did quite well with the limited opportunities they had, they were unable to create much against the deep block of Chris Hughton’s side.

Mane misplaced several passes, meanwhile the other two weren’t given the opportunities that they usually get, especially at home. Credit has to go to the away side for being resolute in defense whilst creating numerous chances in attack.

The Reds have shown a new side to of themselves in recent months, specifically since the signing of Virgil van Dijk – winning ugly. Making it through a gritty contest with the three points. Sure, they weren’t at their fluid, beautiful best during the game, but when you’re challenging for a title, it’s about winning when you don’t play at your best.

That’s exactly what Liverpool did against Brighton.
