Alisson has nerves of steel

What an impact Alisson has made at Liverpool already and arguably his most impressive performance came against Brighton.

His coolness on the ball is staggering. One moment which wowed the Anfield faithful in particular was when a Brighton player chased onto a back pass from van Dijk. Rather than panicking and putting his foot right through the ball, Alisson produced an audacious chip over the Brighton attacker, then coolly laid the ball back to the Dutchman.

Moments like that are what make modern goalkeepers like the Brazilian special, and his confidence on the ball has been a massive bonus to a club that hasn’t seen a goalie of this type in between the sticks. Klopp was full of praise for him, for good reason. The former Roma man made two saves, six long balls (four of which were accurate), and 16 passes at an 81% accuracy.

One save that was crucial was that from Pascal Gross’ header late in the game. Moments like that will give him even more confidence throughout the season. A great day at the office for Alisson Becker.
