Milner doesn’t give an F about the Champions League draw
Liverpool midfielder James Milner doesn’t an F about the tough Champions League group the Reds have been drawn in.
Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli and Red Star Belgrade have been included in the same group as the Anfield club and will mark a tough test for Jurgen Klopp’s side. However Milner, who had an outstanding competition last season, isn’t bothered.
At this level of football, there will always be tricky fixtures – and to win the Champions League you’ll eventually have to play the best of the best. Liverpool experienced this last season, and nearly passed every test with flying colours.
The Reds lost to Real Madrid in the final as the contest became overshadowed by Sergio Ramos’s ugly challenge on Mohamed Salah which put Salah out the game and Loris Karius’s concussion driven fatal errors.
But Klopp oversaw a tremendous Champions League campaign that included the humbling of Premier League winners Manchester City, and Milner has implied that there is no reason why Liverpool can’t do the same again.
In a quoted retweet of the Reds’ Group C, the midfielder acknowledged that the side had a tricky draw – but added that no group in the competition is easy.
Back to domestic football and Liverpool take on Leicester City away from home on Saturday in the early kickoff. Jamie Vardy is suspended for the game after picking up a straight red card against Wolves, and that takes away one of the Foxes’ main threats.
It’s the last game before players depart on international duty, but Klopp may rotate his team after admitting that they lacked intensity and spark against Brighton last weekend. Fresh legs and lads playing for their places could reinvigorate things.

Jordan Henderson and Fabinho will be hoping for their first Premier League start, although you doubt that Klopp would change two of his midfield three. Milner, despite his excellent start, may be one of those who misses out this weekend.
