No.4 – Van Dijk Lives Up To World-Class Tag

It’s almost getting boring for Liverpool fans repeating themselves each week, but Virgil van Dijk was absolutely dominant and showed why he is one of the best defenders in the world and comfortably the best in the Premier League.

In his biggest test of the season up against (an albeit out of form) Harry Kane, Virgil didn’t look phased whatsoever, marshaling the Liverpool defense like a veteran and looking like a real leader at the heart of defense.

Since Jamie Carragher retired I have worried about every ball played into the Liverpool box. Every single cross pre-empting a heart attack. Those days are gone. Van Dijk is first to everything and towers over every opponent. Kane was anonymous today.

You really do have to wonder where Liverpool would be without the Dutch centre back. One thing is for sure – they wouldn’t be in a title race this season.
