One moment from the Liverpool victory at Spurs on Saturday has some fans convinced that Sadio Mane has an agenda against Mohamed Salah.

Everything is going well for Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool side. The Reds are off to a perfect start to the season with five wins out of five. However some fans think they’ve spotted a problem between Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah during the win against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

When Liverpool were 2-0 up in the second half, the Reds had a fast break away with Sadio Mane bursting forward. The Senegalese forward had Naby Keita to his left and Mohamed Salah to his right.

As the defense shifted over to try to halt his driving run the space opened on the right to leave Salah alone. However, instead of slipping a pass to the Egyptian winger, Mane attempted to tee up Keita but the defense were able to cover and Liverpool missed a golden opportunity to bury the game.

Immediately some fans saw that as a sign that something is wrong between the African forwards. This harks back to the theory that Sadio Mane feels eclipsed by Mohamed Salah. Prior to the latter’s arrival at Anfield, he was the best goalscorer at the club. Last season Salah blew everyone away with over 40 goals in all competitions.

This season fans believe there is a fierce competition between the pair to be top scorer at the club. Mane has four on the board while Salah is sharing the second spot with Roberto Firmino with two each.

I am sure there is plenty of rivalry to lead the scoring charts but not at the expense of the team in game defining moments. Mane certainly has a greedy streak – or you could just say that he backs himself.

You can see in this official club video the respect between the pair. The only major disagreement between them relates to their assessment of each other’s fashion style:

If imaginary feuds are the only thing Liverpool fans have to worry about you know things are good around the red half of Merseyside!
