Xherdan Shaqiri

Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri played a central role for his nation during the international break, and this could be an alternative option for Klopp on Tuesday night.

If the German picked Shaqiri, it would result in a fluid forward line – a bit like the one you get when Firmino plays. The former Stoke City man has pace, good position awareness and the strength required to make life hard for PSG’s defence.

This selection would also enable Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah to interchange as Shaqiri is a more natural wideman. Either Mane or Salah could come inside and operate from a more central position while the other two cause havoc out on the wings.

But that said, if Klopp went for this choice it would probably be a braver one then going for a regular striker. Shaqiri has hardly had any minutes this season and throwing him in for Liverpool’s biggest game so far would be a big call.
