PSG manager Thomas Tuchel’s Anfield nightmare turned around and bit him against as Liverpool beat Paris Saint Germain 3-2 in the Champions League.

Tuchel was in charge when the Reds beat Borussia Dortmund 4-3 back at Anfield in 2016 – a win that came via a 91st minute goal.

And the German had to sit through another European night on Merseyside in which his team lost via an extra time strike. The nightmare repeats itself for the gaffer.

Daniel Sturridge, James Milner and Roberto Firmino hit the back of the net for the Reds while defender Thomas Meunier and superstar Kylian Mbappe scored for PSG, but their efforts weren’t enough to stop Tuchel sliding to another late, late loss.

The victory will give Liverpool great confidence going forward, and it also helps to show the world that their march to the Champions League final last season was no fluke.

Jurgen Klopp has assembled a quality side, and could afford to leave out summer signing Naby Keita – who was dropped in favour of Jordan Henderson.

Keita didn’t even get a tiny sniff of the action as Fabinho was brought on for Sadio Mane in the dying moments of the game.

Firmino wasn’t expected to be fit for the clash after suffering a pretty bad eye injury in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

But Sturridge started and proved to himself, the gaffer and the fans that he’s a legitimate option. After an excellent preseason, Klopp chose not to move the England striker on and has given him a second chance.

The forward has been fit and injury free since then, and his goal will give him a lot of confidence for the future. It may even make Klopp think twice about certain selections, although you’d imagine Firmino is still the gun favorite.
