Four Liverpool rotations Klopp MUST make to beat Southampton

No. 3 – Xherdan Shaqiri

With Firmino back in the starting lineup that will give Klopp the option of rotating one of his other forwards. Without doubt Mohamed Salah should be the one to get a rest. If the Egyptian misses this game and the League Cup fixture next week that will give him an 11 day break to rest, recover and rediscover some form.

He has two goal and two assists in six games – that is not a bad return. But anyone watching can see he is not quite the same as last season. That is a combination of opposition tactics hounding him for 90 minutes but also the after-effects of a long season followed by a World Cup. He is not at Harry Kane levels of under-performance but a mini-break would do him good.

That would allow for fans to finally see Xherdan Shaqiri in the lineup. The ex-Stoke attacker has only featured from the bench but those cameos have been a teaser for good things to come. A home game against a weaker opponent is the perfect introduction for the Swiss star.
