No.3 – Attacking Options

Liverpool have attacking options from the bench for the first time in forever (Fowler, Heskey, Owen & Litmanen?). The last 10 days have featured excellent production from both summer signing Xherdan Shaqiri and long-standing striker Daniel Sturridge.

Two starts in a row for the Swiss international have shown how exciting he can be. He is an excellent set-piece taker and a natural creator. His first half display against Southampton was crucial to give the Reds the three goal advantage.

Sturridge has three goals for the season already despite only making two starts. Every Liverpool fan I know was hoping that Klopp would sign a top-rate forwards to cover and rotate for Roberto Firmino.

However the Englishman was not giving up his place in the squad easily and has put last season’s injuries and unfruitful loan at West Brom behind him to cement himself as the second number 9 at the club.

Chelsea do not have the same attacking flair off the bench and that could be decisive as Liverpool drive for a famous victory at Stamford Bridge.
