No.2 – Forwards Memories

It is impossible to talk about this game without mentioning the current struggles of the front three. The trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah have ten goals in Liverpool’s ten games this year – a marked reduction from last year’s blistering pace.

Most worryingly these players have not scored in the last three. Daniel Sturridge has been crucial in picking up the slack with four goals for the Englishman, however the performances of the front three have not been what we expect.

Salah in particular looks most out of sorts. Mane has always been a streaky player of hot and cold periods. Firmino can not see the score sheet for weeks but is doing a hundred other things for the team. But Salah at Anfield has always been involved in goals and assists until now.

These three scored seven goals in those three victories against City earlier in the year. Salah had three of those goals and another in the pre-season game. He will be facing a makeshift left back (either Delph or Zinchenko) and a team that give opponents room to play. The memories will come flooding back on Sunday and we will see the Mohamed Salah we know and love.
